Cranes

If you follow this blog you know that I enjoy drawing all things construction any time I have a chance to do it. Yesterday morning I had a moment that I couldn't pass. They were taking down one of the construction cranes at the Mirabella senior living complex that is being built at Fairview St. and Denny Way. How cool is that! Watching them do it, I mean. The building is actually a massive block out of scale with its surroundings. I don't like it at all. The Brewster brick apartment building next to it, which I outlined on the right side of the sketch, seems tiny next to this architectural abomination. But going back to the subject of construction, seeing them take the crane apart was the highlight of my morning commute. As soon as I finished the quick sketch that second arm came loose and they had it down in a matter of seconds. I also digged drawing the old Ford truck with a shiny green paint job. It makes the whole scene look more American, doesn't it?

No me gusta nada.

  1. I enjoy your construction sketches. I have worked in construction related industry (steel fabrication) for years. I have worked out of Arlington, Washington and for a time for a construction company in Woodinville. I was project manager for our company on several projects around Seattle.
