Alley with skywalk

I usually edit my drawings before posting them so the drawing is what you see, not so much the sketchbook. But sometimes it's nice to see the sketchbook too. I actually posed the question of editing vs. non editing to the EDM Yahoo group more than a year ago. Most people thought editing is the way to go. And I agree, but it doesn't hurt to show the sketchbook every now and then. This one is the Canson 5.5" x 8.5" I started last December. This is also alley number four. It's a more upscale alley —these are condos in South Lake Union—, but still an alley.

  1. I agree - it's nice to see the actual sketchbook sometimes. This is a wonderful idea for a series. I signed up for the urban landscapes group ages ago, and haven't even started contributing yet.
Can I steal your idea and do some alleys?

  2. Personally, I love the way the spiral looks. There is something satisfying about the repetition.

  3. I love to see the sketchbooks as I can visualise them in reality a bit better - but I agree, probably best to do this only occassionally. I like the way you have captured this scene with really strong and simple lines.
