The happiest bus rider ever

The little kid sitting in front of me on the bus the other day was the happiest commuter I've ever seen, his eyes wide open looking out the window and taking it all in.
El niño que iba sentado delante de mí en el autobús el otro día era el pasajero más contento que he visto nunca, con sus ojos abiertos del todo mirando por la ventana para no perderse nada.

Gabi, I just love your sketches. I was wondering how do you begin drawing the people when your out. Im new to drawing when Im out and wondered if you would please give some info on where I could start, How large do you do your sketches and what type of pend do you use.
    Thank you so.

  2. The little kid is very cute :-) One day I hope to have the confidence to draw in public!

  3. Thank you for the nice comments!

Linda, regarding your questions, these sketches are done in a Moleskine sketchbook. Each double page you see here is about 7.5 wide by 5.5 tall. I use Pigma Micron 0.8 black pens and add some gouache washes later at home. When I'm out and about and want to draw people in movement, I observe as much as I can and try to freeze a moment in my head, then draw that. But most of these as you know are done inside the bus, so I just try to observe and memorize, then draw, and look back to the subject if needed. Hope that helps!

  4. You got loads done Gabi. Love the top and bottom right sketches on the last page especially.

  5. Glad to see you are back to sketching on the bus! Love your journal pages.
